Lying Videos
(Diploma Project, February 2025)
Lying Videos explores the blurred boundaries between truth, fiction, and artificial intelligence. In this diploma project, I investigated the power of deepfake technology by cloning real voices using open-source AI tools and syncing them with archival footage.
I selected well-known political figures — some proven to have lied, others suspected — and created manipulated videos in which they speak a “truth” they never actually said. The result is both unsettling and thought-provoking: when lies sound real and truths are artificially constructed, what remains of authenticity?
The work ultimately leads to a fundamental question: What is truth — and can there be more than one?
