Facsimilé
(Book Design & Reproduction Study, Erasmus Ghent)
Facsimilé was created as part of a studio course at KASK Ghent exploring the concept of copying — specifically in the context of bootlegging. The task: select a book deemed worth copying, and reinterpret its design by questioning what should be preserved, altered, or reimagined.
I chose Packaging Design, a book from the 1980s that struck me with its visual richness and stark contrast to contemporary design aesthetics. Rather than mimic the original layout, I placed the imagery at the forefront, letting the visuals drive the structure and rhythm of the new edition.
The result: four hand-bound copies, fully redesigned, each a tribute and transformation of the original.
